The Stoning of Soraya M
Guys, there's a movie that comes out this Friday that we all need to go see. No, I'm not talking about Transformers 2, though that also is awesome beyond belief. I'm talking about The Stoning of Soraya M.

We've all seen the news reports about what's going on in Iran, as the people there are standing up and struggling for liberty. Liberty that we all too often take for granted here. The fact that Soraya is coming out this week is just prescient. It wasn't planned - because no one knew this was going to happen in the world. But nevertheless it's here. By seeing this movie you will not only be partaking in what's supposed to be a breathtaking film experience, but you will also be supporting the people of Iran by telling their fascist leaders, hey, we know what you're doing and what you have been doing to you're people. We're aware. And you're not going to pretend that it's a secret any more. Shining a light is the best way to stamp out the darkness.

Some reviews:

"Cyrus Nowrasteh’s “The Stoning of Soraya M.” is a grim and solemn duty.  This is no popcorn flick, to be viewed and forgotten.  It stays with you, like your conscience telling you to do the right thing, the difficult thing... Stoning proves that Hollywood’s capacity to combat evil is still intact." - Big Hollywood

"for me, personally, there are few films which are moving in a way that leaves me thinking about them for days afterward. It's that Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List sort of way, when you feel proud and fulfilled for merely having seen it, but also a little emotionally drained from a few scenes which were particularly hard to watch. I'm quite certain I have just seen another such movie, an extraordinary film titled The Stoning of Soraya M. It is simply one of the most gripping films I've ever watched but. Certainly, it is a story that needs to be told since the barbaric practice of stoning still occurs in our world today -- mostly to women, and mostly in the Middle East." - Huffington Post

Opens Friday in select theaters; next Friday in wider release. CLICK HERE to see a list of theaters in your area.
